It's been a long time since I've last blogged. I hope everyone is having a great summer so far and happy winter to my Australian girlies haha! How have you all been? I miss you guys so much and I miss blogging! I'm just here with a quick post on one of my favourite summer outfits. I went to see the fireworks yesterday and it's something I look forward the most each year! It was a fun night despite the fact that I need to slave away on my paper now. Procrastination gets the best of me every time....and all the time....even though I should know better in my last semester of university. There's just three more weeks left of school for me and it's crazy with final papers and exams coming in my way. If all goes well and I pass my tough biology course then it will be a goodbye to university for me! I'm sooo excited but the thought of not having school anymore also leaves me a bit lost. I'm not sure if I'll get used to full time work and getting up at 6 every morning. That just sounds dreadful already. But I'm excited for a new chapter in my life! Anyways, all I'm praying right now is to pass my vertebrate biology course. Oh, and finishing this paper....

The Lipstick Tag

I am back. I am still alive. This tag is two months late - wait no, ohmygosh...three months. I have overworked myself and maximized my limits this semester. Never again will I do four courses, two jobs, and volunteer again. I apologize for the great MIA so let's cut the crap and get into it. Thank you sleepandwater and twoplicates for tagging me (if you haven't already, be sure to check out their responses to this fun tag here and here)! Also, I will be catching up on everyone's blog posts this week. I miss you all so much! <3
1. How many lipsticks do you own?
I own 32 tubes of lipsticks. In this count, I have also included a few mini sample sized lipsticks. I personally feel that this is a modest collection, it's not particularly lacking but it definitely has more room for growth.

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?
The first lipstick I've bought myself would be Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 210 Fancy. I remember browsing at the drugstore excitedly trying to pick out a lipstick and not having any clue what I wanted but knew I just had to go home with one. I ended up picking Fancy because it is a light sheer pink with small silver sparkles. Rimmel Moisture Renew collection at the time was also one of the biggest hits at the drugstore, so I narrowed my selection to this line. Fancy was not the most brilliant idea though, because when I got home I realized that I didn't like small glitter flexes on my lips. It didn't turn out as attractive as I thought it would be and that was my first lipstick lesson.

3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?
Revlon, Rimmel, and YSL. The majority of my lipstick collection consists of Revlon lipsticks so it's no doubt that they're a favourite. Next is Rimmel because the stand out colours they have are at affordable prices, not to mention the formula of their lipsticks are also great. I know it's a little biased to state YSL since I really only have two lipsticks and two glossy stains, but I feel like they speak for themselves. I'm already looking forward to picking out another YSL lippie.

4. What is your most worn lipstick?
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 700 Nude Delight. I only have less than half a tube left, which tells you how much I love it. Nude Delight is my second purchase and at the time, it was a big hit among youtubers finding the perfect nude lipstick. I can totally relate, judging by how far down I am on using this lippie.

5. What is your favourite finish?
I prefer hydrating/moisturizing lipsticks with a matte or satin finish.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?
YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in 8 Pink in Confidence.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?
A total of 7 lip products. I honestly don't even know why I have that much in my bag when I barely reapply any makeup when I'm out and about. On rare occasions I do reapply my lip products, but that's only if I'm in a comfort zone and have too much time on my hands to care about what's on my lips. Currently, the babes I bring out with me are: a mini Fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment (from the previous year's Sephora birthday gift), NARS Velvet Gloss Pencil in New Lover, Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe Lip Colour in Nude Pink, Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Life's a Peach, Sula Natural Lip Gloss in Come Find MeCanmake Candy Wrap lip gloss in Peach ShowerNYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp, YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in 15 Corail Intuitive and 8 Pink in Confidence.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?
Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish lipstick in 107. This lipstick has been one that I have been searching high and low for, I've always wanted a berry red just like this one. The color isn't too dark and vampy nor is it too bright in its red hues making it similar to other reds that can be easily duplicated. I feel like this berry red gives the classic red a twist such that it still gives a sophisticated look but adds a bit of extra mystery and sexiness to your look (I'm not even sure if I'm making sense here...but yeah..).

9. How do you store your lipsticks?
I store the majority of my lipsticks in the last compartment of my Muji 5-drawer acrylic storage. However, as I am accumulating more and more lipsticks I have no other container to put them but throw them in a silver paper box. I want to get another acrylic storage or even a lipstick holder but my small desk simply cannot contain so much stuff. I'm still thinking how I should manipulate my makeup storage system but it'll take a while before I figure something out.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?
I don't have a particularly huge lust or craving for any particular lipstick colour at the moment but I know I'd definitely want to try out some brands that are new to my existing collection. I think Tom Ford lipsticks are the next in line to a girl's lipstick dream lol. As previously mentioned, YSL Rouge Volupté Shine lipsticks are on my list for further exploration. I simply love the formulation way too much to resist not buying any more. MAC lipsticks are definitely on the list, if only I get over the intimidation to go in the store alone like a grown up girl. Another brand that I've been thinking about is Michelle Phan's EM Cosmetics lipsticks. All the reviews that I have seen and read show consistency in how great the quality is and how wonderfully pigmented the lipsticks are.

Nude Obsession

This is yet another long overdue post. I promised you all that I'd do a whole review and swatches on the Formula X The Twenty Two set but, truth be told I don't have the time to even paint my nails anymore. Give me some time and I pomise I will introduce each colour from the set to you. Slowly but surely. If anyone saw me in person right now and inspected my nails, it would be a glitter chipping mess and 'nasty-ness'. The story goes like this: for my birthday, my sister did an at home gel nail manicure on me; the results were amazing and they lasted for two weeks chip free. However, when the day came that I decided to take them was the worst nightmare of my life. If you thought removing glitter polish was hard, try removing gel nail polish with a crappy acetone remover. Absolutely disastrous. I'd choose glitter polish any other day. But I'll leave the the rest of the story later when I review the Nailuv Gel Nail Polish kit I got for my birthday present. So what about this glitter mess? I never got all of the gel nail polish off so I covered it with glitter polish to make it slightly more presentable. Anyways, I apologize for the rambling, so let's get back onto Formula X and this second nude nail polish love of mine.

Thrilling & Meteoric

I'm not sure if any of you guys remember, but all the way back I had introduced my favourite nude nail polish from Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Bare Naked. I never thought I would find another favourite nude nail polish to set an equivalent place in my heart, but Formula X Thrilling was definitely a surprise to me. In fact, this combination was actually introduced to me by Makeup By Tiffany D here. She was the one who convinced me to buy the The Twenty Two set. Although, the price tag seemed quite hefty at first, when you think about how a regular sized nail polish costs $12-13 already, buying 4 would make up the price of getting 22 polishes in a variety of colours. This is especially great for a girl like me, who always ends up gravitating towards the same type of colours lol.

I never saw the hype about this 'new' (but not so new anymore) brand before putting this combination on my nails. I instantly fell in love, not only with the colours but with the brand. Thrilling went on opaque in two coats with no streaks and no mess. With a top and base coat this polish will last on your nails for a good week or so. Although Thrilling may seem like just a nude, it's beyond just any nude. It's a beautiful light beige creme that has pinky-purple and gray undertones. In a different lighting you can tell that there's a hint of warmth in this polish making it very flattering. Other times, it looks like a pale gray but definitely not to the extent of Dior Gris Trianon. Meteoric is a black and white confetti with rainbow micro glitters. It has a clear base, so don't expect this to be an opaque 'glitter'; actually, I'm not even sure if it's right to call this a 'glitter' because it's not glittery or sparkly at all. Instead I'd rather think of this as more of a special top coat layer.

Since the initial test with this combination I have tried a few other creme colours from the set, and the formula is quite consistent with every colour. Overall, I would definitely say that this was a good purchase and definitely recommend it if anyone is able to find this set. It would have been nice of me to review this earlier but oh well. If you can't find the set, I would say go for the regular sizes! I will definitely look forward to purchasing other colours, but until I have gone through and tried every colour in The Twenty Two I will refrain myself from buying other Formula X polishes. Gotta keep this shopaholic and makeup addict on control.

Sweet, Juicy, and Irresistable

A much delayed post since I bought these all the way back in December but I'm so excited share my love about these babes with you guys! I think it's every girl's dream to finally own a YSL lipstick and have a sufficient collection of them. I'm definitely looking forward to buying more but only every now and then as a treat for myself so I don't to break the bank. The two colours I have here are Rouge Volupte Shine in 15 Corail Intuitive and Rouge Pur Couture (Glossy Stain) in 7 Corail Aquatique

Rouge Volupté Shine in 15 Corail Intuitive: This has become my holy grail and go-to lipstick.  It is a light warm coral pink and probably one of the best balances of the colours I have come across so far. I like that it leans towards the pink side but has the coral warmth to support it which makes it very flattering on my skin tone. Corail Intuitive is a light pink, but not to be confused with it being sheer. The lipstick is moisturizing on the lips and has a satin finish that gives you the juicy pout you want. Not to mention, it has the most amazing yummy fruity candy scent to it; making your lips irresistible. Last but not least, I can stare and admire the packaging all day long. This lipstick is the definition of perfection. If I ever run out (which I probably will, judging by how often I put these on my lips), you bet I'll be getting a second tube.

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres in 7 Corail Aquatique: YSL Glossy Stain lippies are probably the closest products that I will ever put on my lips similar to a lipgloss but not really. Corail Aquatique is an orange-red glossy stain with micro-silver glitters that are not detectable on the lips but only seen with careful inspection on swatch. The packaging is in a square tube and has a slanted heart shape pointed applicator that makes application very precise and easy. When you first apply the product, it goes on smooth and creamy but once it dries it becomes quite sticky (which is the only downfall that I need to get over) and is the reason why the colour is sealed in place for the whole day. I can eat a few meals and still find the colour remain perfectly on my lips. The formula is light weight (almost watery and thin) but the colour is delivered opaque. Like Corail Intuitive, this lip product also makes your lips stunningly juicy. One thing to be careful of; although not particularly noticeable with Corail Aquatique is if you pucker your lips too much after it has dried the product will look unattractive, patchy, and uneven on the lips (this is very noticeable with my other glossy stain in Violet Edition).

NARS x Guy Bourdin: One Night Stand Cheek Palette

I know this post is long overdue, but it's always better late than never right? This semester is a crazy one for me and I'm officially on my way to suicidal (just kidding). But in all seriousness, I'm taking a full time school course load with two jobs and volunteering. Every week is a time crunch for me so don't be surprised that I can't keep up with the blogging world. I promise I'll try my best though! There's just too much that I want to do but not enough time. You guys should see how many drafts I have started in blogger ugh lol. Be patient with me and stayed tuned, I promise I'll post as much as I can! Anyways, I'll skip out on my story on this palette as I'm sure most of you know it already hahaha. So let's get on with the review!

Top - Bottom: Devotee, Mistinguette, Orgasm, Laguna, Deep Throat, Goulue

In terms of owning NARS products, this would be my first official one (not counting samples) and I was so excited to receive it in the mail. I got this off of the Sephora website and it was delivered to me within one and a half week since the time of purchase. I was super happy that the palette was nicely wrapped and well protected in a red pouch so nothing was broken (I've heard too many online purchase disasters). I like the sleek matte black packaging and the handy big mirror on the interior. Everything about this palette just speaks high end quality and well made. But having paid a full $72, I would not expect anything less. Overall, the blushes are decently pigmented and last a whole day on my cheeks. If I were to bring a cheek palette for traveling, this would be it. This palette has everything you need with a highlighter, a bronzer, and four distinct blushes. From here on out, I think I have more reasons to browse through the NARS section.

Devotee: a pretty frosted/shimmery highlight colour with a hint of light pink and gold sheen. Normally I don't gravitate towards any sort of highlighting as I always get this perceived idea that I would look too shiney and enhance the look of an oily grease ball. However, this highlighter is different, it's pigmented enough but goes on giving the skin a bit of a natural 'oomph'. Do use a light hand, as this is quite pigmented.

Mistinguette: a matte bubblegum pink shade. To my surprise, this shade actually has zero resemblance to other pink shades that I own and have thought that this colour was nothing special. Mistinguette is a lighter and more blue based pink compared to ELF Studio Blush in Pink Passion. Dollface from Tarte Off the Cuff cheek palette is more peachy and coral.

Orgasm: your classic peachy pink blush with gold shimmers. This has been such a prestigious shade that I had to think twice about giving a redundant description, maybe you ladies yawn already lol.

Laguna: I finally get the hype on this bronzer. I don't think I have ever been so attached to any bronzer knowing that it contains gold shimmer in it like this one does but somehow Laguna works magic and you don't even notice the gold shimmer on your face. This bronzer gives you a nice natural contour which is exactly what I am always looking for!

Deep Throat: a light peach shade with slight gold shimmer. This has been one of my go-to natural blushes since I got this palette. I feel like this is one of those no brainer blushes where you can't go wrong pairing it with anything. Compared to Orgasm, this is much lighter, less pink and with less gold shimmer.

Goulue: a medium rosey pink with gold shimmers. Probably the most pigmented blush out of the whole palette and requires a light hand otherwise you will over do it and look like you got punched in the face. When used in moderation though, this shade looks very flattering on the cheeks. I would say this is probably the stand out from the palette as it is very different from what you would normally find or expect! Coming from me, this is saying a lot about this blush since I tend to shy away from deeper blush colours like this.

RiRi Hearts MAC

I have taken a step forward and leveled up in makeup. Well kind of, not really...I'm still too intimidated to go into the store by myself (these were bought online and ordered by my sister). I don't know why, but I just like it better when I can play around, pull out things and bring it to the counter by myself like Sephora. I don't like being "helped" every step of the way (more like being spied on). Anyways, it's my first time purchasing and owning MAC products and I'm particularly excited that they are from the RiRi Hearts MAC collection. Believe it or not, I bought these on a whim. I missed out on the first release and wasn't even aware there was a holiday collection until my sister messaged me. So I quickly googled up the collection and picked out a few items that were most appealing to me. The shiny rose gold packaging is a stand out, it's absolutely beautiful and I really like the RiRi signature on top!

2x Dare Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Palette

The 2x Dare Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Palette is a relatively more cool-toned palette compared to the Presh Out eyeshadow palette. Both palettes contain beautiful yet very shimmery and frosted shades that can be used wet or dry on the eyelids. So if you are not a fan of shimmer, stay faaarrrrr away.

  • 1st Shade: bright and opaque shimmery metallic white
  • 2nd Shade: sheer shimmery frosted light pink
  • 3rd Shade: cool-toned gunmetal/silver-blue metallic
  • 4th Shade: shimmery muted olive/taupe green
  • 5th Shade: medium gray-taupe colour that leans on the plummy brown spectrum

In the photo above, the shades were swatched dry and it gives off a good amount of pigmentation. The exception would be the second shade which goes on a little patchy and requires a packing motion to get an even all over colour. I prefer using these eyeshadows wet, as they give off even more vibrancy and makes their own unique colour more distinct because I find that using them dry; especially the three darker shades, become really similar. Although not quite muddy looking, the shades themselves do not stand out one from another very well and easily loses its colour when you try to blend in a crease shade. As with all shimmery and frosted eyeshadows, there are some fall out while using these eyeshadows. However, it is kept to a minimal (and also depending on your application skills) and is nothing too problematic to work with.

Bad Girl RiRi & Cockiness

The highlight shade from the lipsticks released in this collection should be RiRi Woo, however I decided not to pick it up since I have quite a few reds in my collection already and I love the wallet friendly Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish lipsticks I own. Bad Girl RiRi is a medium neutral shade with an interesting mix of red and brown, and leaning on the warm undertone on a matte finish. On first glance, it seems to be a shade that is difficult to wear, despite the neutral aspect of it. However, on the lips it does pull off okay. Maybe I should have picked up RiRi Woo instead, but this is alright too. The lipstick is very pigmented and lasts a decent 4-5 hours of wear time. The lipstick goes on smoothly and is neither hydrating or drying on the lips. I would definitely go back to MAC for more lipsticks!

Cockiness is suppose to be a shimmery rose gold shade, but I think it looks more like a metallic gold on the lids. On most angles, the eyeliner is seen as gold more than pink (it'a very hard to see that hint of pink). The Superslick Eyeliner lasts all day on the lids and is basically waterproof and smudgeproof after drying. The applicator has a nice pointed felt tip, and the colour goes on opaque with one to two strokes. When I first used this eyeliner though, the consistency was quite sheer and watery. I also don't like how the product is pressured out on the rims of the container and making it much loss of product. Am I the only one with this problem? It's starting to get better now though with more uses.

Overall, I'm quite happy with my first MAC products. Did any of you buy from the holiday collection?
